Making Modern Gadgets Look Old
The analogue digital typewriter that I filmed last year can be considered a Steampunk object. This basically means that it’s a modern gadget which is given an old look with sometimes even old mechanisms. Watch the video to see some great examples and learn all about Steampunk.

AB-so-lu-te-ly love this kinda stuff. When I was about 16 years old I remodelled a scanner. I thought my computer stuff looked ugly. So I started by giving the scanner a wooden casing. It looked terrible (I’m no craftsman) but everyone loved the idea. A year or two later I saw the first wooden computer. Now there are even companies that use stone to make our computer experience more natural. If I only had the cash… http://woodcontour.com/ I really love the Steampunk style though. That takes the whole idea a great deal further… incredible.

@Piet: Any pics available of the wooden scanner that you made? :-)

Good question, It was a long time ago... and I dropped it once. It was damaged so bad I threw it away. I wonder if I made a picture. I'll check. I'm currently making different artsy stuff. Turning vintage Starwars toys into art objects. Maybe I'll post that on my blog later on.

@Piet: Okay... Drop a link to the scanner-pics here should you post them on the web. And keep me posted on the arty vintage toys. ;-)
