Fresh Creation Puts Videos On The Homepage
A month ago I asked you if you could give your opinion on whether I should put videos on the homepage of Fresh Creation or not. Some people were against putting videos on the homepage because they thought images made it easier to scan the posts in their RSS-readers. Others liked videos on the homepage because they could instantly access the content when visiting the site. Today, I have finally come to a verdict. ;-)
After some research on the web I’ve made the decision to start posting videos on the homepage of Fresh Creation. Main reason: New visitors don’t always understand that they have to click before they actually get to see a video. Because of this I’m missing out on lots of ‘love at first sight’. Since you only get one chance for a first impression I’d better make that first impression a good and easy one. I hope all of you can live with that.

Also new on FC: the "Submit the word you see below" phrase. Suppose it was really, really necessary?

@Jos: Yes, it was really, really necessary. Strange things were happening. The processors of the server were working overtime because someone had sent a comment-robot to FreshCreation.nl. By the way, if you become a member you don't have to submit a word.....

Argh! I need the pictures to scan faster in my RSS feed! I think a much better to keep creating your own thumbnails, but put a "play" icon in them so people realize that they have to click it to play the video...

@Ruben: Thanks for your comment and your suggestion! I've received more complaints about leaving out the thumbnails... I'll reconsider. I guess the RSS-crowd didn't really see the consequences when I asked all visitors to give their opinion on removing the thumbnails a while ago. Now that I've done it I get all kinds of responses (mostly by mail and both positive and negative..). Do you know of any websites which put thumbnails on the homepage and use a clear way to indicate there's a video 'behind it'? Examples are more than welcome...
