BMW Automated Garage Parking

We already knew that BMW’s were able to automatically park themselves. But now there’s a new BMW feature: driving into your garage on its own after pressing a button on the remote control.  BMW says this feature will be on the market in 3 years. The system works really easy. Stop your car in front of the garage door, get out, press the button on your remote control. That’s it. Ah yes, and open the garage door before your press the button.  ;-)

The system works with a reflective lens which needs to be attached to the wall in the garage. A small camera behind the front window of the car measures the distance and angle of the car in relation to the lens. The system needs at least 20 centimeters at the right and left side of the car to be able to park it in your garage.
