Barcode + Colour + Mobile = ?
Rein, a student at the Working Tomorrow graduation program, gives us a demo of how you can create a coloured barcode and scan it with your mobile. By adding colour the information capacity of the barcode increases. This leads to many new ways of using the barcode. For instance: put a coloured barcode on a poster, scan it with your mobile and directly get the ringtone of that particular brand on your phone. Other creative suggestions? Leave a comment.

why is it necessary to have more information in the barcode? An URL who be enough, isn't it? Then all information on the Internet is available. So why bother about a high information density bar code?

@Erwin: This way, you instantly get what you want. So, no internet connection needed, no need to open a browser, no downloading.

Barcodes have so much potential, a handy way to load contact details for example. I wish I could create barcodes on my n95 and have it display on the screen... what a cool wallpaper that would be!
