Banner Ad Design Case
Today I made this banner ad (see above) for Fresh Creation. Here’s a short case description of how I came up with the result.
Target audience: Fresh Creation is a website for people who want to get inspired. People who are looking for new concepts, original ideas and clever solutions. People who want to use all this information to come up with new fresh, creative ideas of their own.
Copy: The target audience consists of people who want to come up with new fresh ideas/creations. As a result the banner ad should be provocative to these people. Since coming up with new, fresh ideas/creations means that you must be able to ignore ‘the rules’ and follow your own path I wrote down the rule: ‘do not click (follow rules or instinct)’. By not clicking the banner ad you are following the rules. By clicking you are showing that you are in control of your own path.
Design: I could’ve picked the bright colours of the Fresh Creation logo for the design of the banner ad but this would give the viewer an idea of what content he could expect when clicking the banner. Instead I wanted the content behind the click to be a mystery. This way people will get even more curious about which company/website is ordering them not to click. By using white and black/grey the banner ad gains authority and becomes even more provocative. Exactly what I wanted.
