This website will be temporarily unavailable tomorrow. The reason is that Fresh Creation is going to move to a new place: http://www.freshcreation.com After starting out this website in Dutch and then shifting to English, it seems logical to move the website to the .com equivalent. Besides changing the address, a new CMS will be used: ExpressionEngine. In a couple of weeks also some new features will be added to the website. More about that later. Back On Wednesday

Merry Christmas Everybody

If you’re still not in the Christmas mood then the top 5 of Christmas commercials might be of help to you. Besides that I can offer you a top 5 of Christmas lights outbursts and little aliens singing Christmas songs. If all that doesn’t work you might want to check out this video of a PacMan Christmas tree in Madrid, Spain. As a bonus I added an animated version of Jose Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad. PS The frequency of Fresh Creation posts won’t be as high as you’re used to the coming 2 weeks. The reason is that I’ll be spending time with my family and friends. Just so you know…

Fresh Creation’s New Look

Only 2 months ago I made certain changes to Fresh Creation, mostly functional. But I still had the feeling that the site could do with some proper restyling. So last week(end) I sat down and started working on it (that’s also why you probably noticed small changes on the website). The logo still needs adjusting and I will probably be making minor changes during the coming week, but I’m quite pleased with the result. But, more important, do you like it? Please let me know your thoughts by leaving me a comment or sending me a mail. Thanks.

Fresh Creation 2.1

After launching Fresh Creation 2.0 last year, now seemed like the right time to make some changes again. No major stuff, lots of tweaking though. Here’s what I did:

- New header: The old header was big, didn’t add much to the website and the font of the letters was more ‘retro’ than ‘fresh’. The new header is smaller which makes makes it possible for users with a 1024x768 resolution to see the major part of the videos instantly when they open a post. I added the payoff line ‘daily inspiration for creative minds’ to make it easy for visitors to find out what Fresh Creation is about. The background of posts is now white to keep the total look clean, bright and fresh.
- Tweaks: Titles of posts are bigger so the posts can be scanned quicker/easier, links are 1 pixel bigger for the same reason, the colour of the links is a bit brighter to add some freshness, navigation labels like ‘Main Menu’ and ‘Category’ are bigger and lighter to keep a bright, fresh look and to make the page easier to scan.
- Watch video button: Instead of the old ‘Watch video/Read more...’ link, I added a ‘Watch Video’ button to make it easier for first time visitors to go to the videos that they want to see.
- Member login: For easier access, the login links for members are now placed on the left side directly under the main menu.
- Tips: Since I enjoy all the tips that are sent to me, I placed the tips-link at the top on the right.

Fresh Creation Hears What You’re Saying

After not getting a lot of responses when I asked all Fresh Creation visitors to give their opinion on whether to put videos on the homepage or not, I gave the responses that I got a lot of thought and finally made ’my verdict‘ public: I decided to put videos on the homepage.

After I did so loads of Fresh Creation visitors mailed me to say how much they missed the thumbnails in their RSS-feed. Others claimed the homepage wasn’t easily ‘scannable’ anymore. So… The thumbnails are back on the homepage and the videos after the click. To everyone who mailed me: Thanks! I appreciate it a lot.

Fresh Creation Puts Videos On The Homepage

A month ago I asked you if you could give your opinion on whether I should put videos on the homepage of Fresh Creation or not. Some people were against putting videos on the homepage because they thought images made it easier to scan the posts in their RSS-readers. Others liked videos on the homepage because they could instantly access the content when visiting the site. Today, I have finally come to a verdict. ;-)
