Walking is so passé. There are several new personal mobility devices (like 1. Honda’s U3-X). So, I thought I would make a little list of them and several of my old favs.

Peugeot BB1
My favorite car from the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show is Peugeot BB1, an electric city car concept. Renault’s four concept electric cars, also introduced at the show, are close runner ups.

GM Labs video about a light, small, simple car design. The full post includes a video about a similar truck design. GM has realized drivers are willing to give up a few things for a good cause and more efficiency.

World’s First Affordable Zero Emission Car
Say hello to Nissan’s new electric car, Leaf. It can go 90 MPH. Holds 5 seats. Has a range of 100 miles. Can recharge in 30 minutes. Will cost less than $30,000. Should be released by the end of 2010.

Coda Automotive, a brand of Miles Electric Vehicles, is making an average looking car with one major difference: it’s electric! Coda could be the first, normal electric car, going on sale next year.

Can Electric Car Makers Learn From Cell Phones?
Gavin Newsom describes innovative ways of thinking about electric cars. He suggests a pricing plan for electric cars modeled after cell phone pricing plans. “Instead of buying minutes, you buy miles.” He also mentions switching the batteries in a car and the Tesla electric car.

Electric 1972 Datsun 1200 Is On A Mission
John Wayland is taking his electric 1972 Datsun 1200 to drag races to show the world that electric cars can be fast. Really fast. “You can be evironmentally correct and have a good time.” says John. In the video you see him race against a BMW M3. When the race starts it’s like the BMW is standing still. John hopes people will consider to drive electric cars after watching him. “I don’t think you should tell people that they’re bad, but I do think you should show people there’s a better way.”
