Zoologic

A fussy zookeeper maintains strict order in his zoo by imposing conformity on the asymmetrical world of animals. His absolute rule begins to falter, when a little penguin refuses to be shaped to fit. The hand drawn animation by Nicole Mitchell won the Student Academy Award 2008.

Sand Animation

A couple on a bench become a woman’s face; a weeping widow morphs into an obelisk for an unknown soldier. - With “sand animation” Kseniya Simonova evokes stories and feelings of the Ukrainian history, especially World War II. With her performance, the 24 year old won the “Ukraine’s Got Talent” competition. The final words translate something like “You are always near me”. Very moving! (via netzwelt)

Designing Minds - Leanne Shapton

I really like the Designing Minds series of documentaries. My favorite in the series, which talks to young, creative types about creating, is the one about illustrator Leanne Shapton
